FACILITIES
Apex Friendship Middle School opened in 2019. The school was built on about 27 acres. The new school can accommodate about 1,450 students, and is 234,000 square feet. The building is brand new and has a lot of innovative spaces and technology. The building is three stories. Sixth grade students are housed mostly on the first floor with the seventh and eighth grade students on the second and third floors. Upon entering the building from the front, there is a large open area with a set of stairs centrally located leading to the second floor. The cafeteria is situated behind the stairs. There are doors off of the cafeteria leading into a courtyard that is located between the two wings of the building. The far end of the courtyard is where students are dropped off and picked up by busses. On each floor of the building there are large open collaborative spaces located in each wing. These spaces offer flexible seating, whiteboard tables and a large TV screen. Classrooms have windows that look out into the hallway to help monitor students working in collaborative spaces.
Outside, a long driveway leads up to the front of the building where carpool students are dropped off. To the left of the front entrance is the football field and track. The school is situated right next to the high school. The two schools try and coordinate events to ensure there is enough parking, since the parking lots for both schools are accessible to all.
