BIOGRAPHY
Sara earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Binghamton and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. Sara has worked in Wake County for 13 years primarily as a Biology teacher. She has been involved in student activities serving as an adviser for the Marine Biology club, was a coach for Science Olympiad, and was an adviser for the National Honor Society. She also worked for North Carolina Virtual Public Schools for a few years and served as a Course lead for OCS Biology. After much success in the classroom, Sara sought additional ways to have a broader impact within the school and assumed new roles as a beginning teacher mentor, a student teacher mentor, PLT leader, and department chair. She was a Kenan Fellow from 2010-2012 working with the Forest Biotechnology lab at NC State University.
Sara is currently completing her Principal residency at Apex Friendship Middle School. Sara has planned several events for the school to expose students to different careers and to build parent partnerships and increase family engagement Sara has also been involved in discussions with staff members around data and instruction to help support teacher growth and outcomes for students.
